Targeting and worker groups

Targeting decides which workers can see and take your campaign. You set it in step 2 of the campaign form, Worker criteria, and you can change it later.

General Workforce or Worker Group

Under Choose Workers you pick one of two options. General Workforce opens the campaign to every worker who matches your region, countries, success rate and qualification. Worker Group limits it to the workers in one of your own groups.

Regions and countries

For the general workforce, choose a region: International, Latin America, USA - Western, West Europe, East Europe or Asia & Africa. Then refine the country list. You can search countries and use Check all or Uncheck all.

  • International covers every country. The checkboxes mark countries to exclude.
  • For the other regions, the checkboxes mark the countries in that region to include.
  • At least one country must stay included.

Minimum success rate

Minimal Worker Tasks Success Rate lets you choose 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95% or 100%. A worker's success rate reflects how much of their reviewed work was approved. New workers with fewer than 10 reviewed tasks can take any campaign, so they get a chance to build a record.

Required qualification

Required Qualification (Optional) lets only workers who passed one of your qualification tests take the campaign. You can choose any of your qualifications that is live or completed. Create the qualification first under Qualifications.

Worker groups

A worker group is your own list of workers, for example people who did good work before. Groups are managed under Worker groups in the side menu.

1

Create a group

Choose Create Worker Group, enter a Worker Group Name and a Workers Capacity. A group holds up to 100 workers.

2

Add workers

Open the group with Manage and add a worker by their worker ID or username. You can also open a submission and choose Add to Group under Worker Actions.

3

Use the group

In a new campaign, choose Worker Group under Choose Workers and select the group. Only its members see the task.

Tip: You can find worker IDs and usernames in the list of workers who completed your campaigns.

Excluding workers

Excluded workers can no longer receive or complete any of your tasks. Exclude someone from a submission with Exclude under Worker Actions, or go to Exclusions, choose Exclude Worker and enter their worker ID or username. You can remove workers from the list there at any time. An excluded worker can't be added to your groups.

Audience estimate

While you set targeting, the Workers you can reach box shows how many workers match your settings and what share of all workers that is. It also shows how many of them were active today or yesterday, in the last 7 days and in the last 30 days, and how many submitted a task in the last 7 days.

It counts workers who passed the screening test and aren't suspended. If you ask for more positions than matching workers active in the last 30 days, it warns that the campaign may take a while to fill. Try more countries, a lower success rate or no qualification to reach more people.

Editing targeting later

Open the campaign, choose Setup & targeting, and choose Edit next to Targeting. You can do this while the campaign is pending, live or paused. You can switch between the general workforce and a worker group, change the region and countries, and change the success rate.

The number of positions and the cost stay the same. Workers already working on the campaign can still finish and submit. After a change you have to wait 15 minutes before you can change targeting again.

Important: The required qualification can't be changed after the campaign is created.

Common questions

Can I target one specific country?

Yes. Choose the region that contains it and include only that country, or choose International and exclude all the others.

Does excluding a worker affect campaigns that are already live?

Yes. Excluded workers can't receive or complete any of your tasks, including live ones.

Why does the estimate show zero workers?

No worker matches every setting at once. Widen the countries, lower the success rate or remove the required qualification.
