DocsReviewing work
Bonuses
A bonus is extra money you send to a worker on top of the task payment, to reward great work or keep good workers coming back.
Before you start
- A bonus can be from $0.01 to $1,000 per worker.
- It is paid from your available balance right away. Add funds first if your balance is too low.
- The worker receives the bonus minus the 10% service fee, the same as for task payments. If you send $10.00, the worker gets $9.00. Nothing extra is added on top of the amount you enter.
- A bonus can't be taken back once it is sent.
Give a bonus to one worker
Open the submission
Open the campaign or qualification and choose View on the worker's submission.
Choose Give Bonus
You find it under Worker Actions in the submission details.
Enter the amount and a note
Type the Bonus Amount in dollars. You can add an optional note of up to 250 characters, for example: Great work on this task! Then choose Continue.
Confirm
Check the amount and the worker's name in the Confirm Bonus window and choose Send.
Give a bonus to all approved workers
On a campaign or qualification page, choose Give bonus to all approved. The button shows how many workers will get the bonus. It appears when the filter is set to All or Approved and at least one worker has been approved.
Set the amount per worker
Enter the Amount per worker and an optional note. Every approved worker gets the same amount.
Check the total
The Confirm Bonuses window shows the amount each, the number of workers and the total.
Send
Choose Send bonuses. The total is taken from your available balance once.
- Each worker is counted once, even if they have several approved submissions.
- Only workers with an approved submission are included. Pending, rejected and revision-requested work doesn't count.
- Your balance must cover the full total, or nothing is sent.
What the worker sees
The bonus is added to the worker's balance straight away. They get a Bonus received notification on screen with the amount and your note. Unless they turned email notifications off, they also get an email showing the amount, your username and your note.
Tip: Say why you're sending the bonus in the note. Workers remember requesters who explain what they liked, and they come back to your next campaign.
Automatic bonuses for qualifications
When you create a qualification that is graded automatically or runs on an external source, you can set an optional Worker Qualification Bonus of at least $0.01. Workers receive it automatically when they qualify. The bonus for every position is included in the qualification cost you fund when you create it.
Keep track of your bonuses
Open Budget analysis from Home to see what you spent. Campaign Bonuses and Qual. Bonuses are listed separately from payments for approved tasks.
Common questions
Does the 10% fee apply to bonuses?
Yes, but it comes out of the bonus itself. You pay exactly the amount you enter, and the worker receives 90% of it.
Can I give a bonus to a worker whose submission I rejected?
Yes. Give Bonus is available on any submission you open. Bonuses to all approved workers only include approved workers.
Can I cancel a bonus?
No. The money reaches the worker's balance immediately, so check the amount before you confirm.
