External qualification tests

You can run your qualification test on your own website. Workers follow your link, and your server tells TaskerData who passed.

How it works

Your qualification on TaskerData holds only instructions and a link. Each worker gets a personal token. On your site, you ask for that token, run your test, then call our API with the result. The worker is approved or rejected right away.

Step 1: Set up the qualification

1

Choose Questions

Create a new qualification and keep the Qualification Type on Questions. Templates can't use an external source.

2

Add a Quotation Area

Write your instructions and include the link to your test. Tell workers to copy their Token ID into your site.

3

Don't add answer questions

The external option only appears when no question has a Text, Checkbox or Radio answer and at least one Quotation Area contains a link.

4

Tick the external option

Tick Conduct qualification using external source. The API link is provided after you submit.

5

Choose workers and submit

Set targeting and positions as usual. You can add a Worker Qualification Bonus for workers you approve.

Cost

An external test costs the same as a normal qualification plus an External Source Fee of $1.00. The Estimated cost on the Review and submit step shows the full total.

Step 2: Approval and setup

After our team approves the qualification (trusted requesters are approved automatically), it starts paused. You get a message: Qualification Approved (Setup Required). Workers can't see it yet.

Open the qualification and click External source and API to see your endpoint, with your qualification ID and API key filled in. Set up your server, then click Resume qualification to go live.

The worker token

When a worker opens your active external qualification, TaskerData shows them Your Token ID. The token belongs to that worker and that qualification only, and stays the same if they reload the page. Your website must ask the worker to enter it.

Step 3: Report the result

From your server, send a GET request to https://taskerdata.com/api/worker/external_qualification/data with these query parameters:

ParameterDescription
qualification_idID of the qualification
worker_tokenThe Token ID the worker entered on your site
api_tokenYour API key
decisionapprove or reject

Tip: Call the API from your server, not from the worker's browser, so your API key stays private.

Rules and error messages

A successful call returns success true with the new status. Otherwise you get success false and one of these errors:

  • Missing required parameters: all four parameters are needed.
  • Decision must be approve or reject.
  • Invalid API token, or API token does not belong to the qualification owner.
  • Worker token not found for this qualification.
  • This qualification is not configured for external submissions.
  • This qualification is no longer active: paused, completed or stopped tests don't accept results.
  • This worker has already been evaluated for this qualification: each worker can be reported once.
  • Worker account is suspended.
  • No remaining positions for this qualification.

Important: If your balance can't cover the bonus of an approved worker, the submission is saved as pending instead and the response includes a note. Top up and approve it in the dashboard.

Testing your integration

To test without affecting real workers, send a POST request with a JSON body to https://taskerdata.com/api/worker/external_qualification/data_test. Use the same four fields, but put your Test API Key in api_token.

The test endpoint only checks that the fields are present, that decision is approve or reject, and that the test key is valid. It doesn't approve or reject anyone.

API keys

Open the API section of your dashboard. Click Generate New Key to create your API Key, and copy your Test API Key from the same page. You can generate up to 3 new keys per hour.

A new key replaces the old one. If you generate a new key, update your server code, or your calls will fail with Invalid API token.

Tip: Full technical details are on the API page at /docs/api.

Common questions

Why is my approved qualification paused?

External qualifications start paused so you can set up your server first. Click Resume qualification when you're ready.

Do rejected workers use up positions?

No. Only approved and pending submissions count toward your positions.

Can I change a decision after reporting it?

The API accepts one result per worker. A second call for the same worker returns an error.
