The TaskerData Lottery (the "Lottery") is run by TaskerData, operated from Lithuania. These rules are part of our Terms and Conditions. By buying a ticket you accept them.
2. Who can play
- You must be 18 or older and have a TaskerData worker account in good standing (not suspended), with one account per person.
- The Lottery is not available where it is against the law. Some countries don't allow online lotteries or games of chance, or need a licence for them. It is your responsibility to check that you may take part where you live. Don't play if you're not sure.
- TaskerData staff and their households can't play.
3. Tickets
- A ticket costs $0.20, paid from your TaskerData balance. You can buy up to 500 tickets at a time, as often as you like.
- Ticket sales for a draw close 15 minutes before the draw.
- Tickets can't be cancelled, refunded, sold or moved to another account, except as stated in section 8.
- Each ticket is one equal chance to win. More tickets mean better odds, never a certain win.
4. Draws and the prize
- There is one draw a week, normally on Sunday at 17:00 Lithuanian time (EET/EEST). The time of the next draw is always shown on the Lottery page. We may move a draw, and we'll show the new time there.
- The prize pool is all the ticket money for that draw, plus any amount TaskerData adds. The current pool is shown live.
- There is one winner per draw, who receives the whole pool.
- If no tickets are sold, there is no draw and any money TaskerData added carries over to the next one.
5. How the winner is picked
The draw is provably fair. Before ticket sales open, we publish the SHA-256 fingerprint of a secret seed. At the draw, the winning ticket number is calculated as:
sha256(seed + ":" + total tickets) mod total tickets
After the draw we reveal the seed, so anyone can check that it matches the fingerprint published in advance and redo the calculation. Every draw's seed, fingerprint and winning number can be checked in the Lottery tab of the worker dashboard. Draws are also streamed live on YouTube.
6. Winning
- The prize is added to the winner's TaskerData balance straight after the draw, and can be cashed out like other earnings under the Terms.
- We tell the winner by email (if email notifications are on), and the result appears on the Lottery page and in the dashboard's list of past draws.
- Your username and country are shown on the live ticket feed when you buy tickets, and the winner's username is shown in the list of past draws, even if your profile is private.
- Any taxes on a prize are the winner's responsibility.
7. Disqualification
- An account that is suspended (for example for multiple accounts or fraud) can't buy tickets. Its tickets for draws that haven't happened yet are cancelled without refund, and it can't win: eligibility is checked again at the moment of the draw.
- If we find out after a draw that the winner wasn't eligible or broke these rules or the Terms, we may take the prize back and, where possible, run the draw again.
8. Changes and cancellation
- We may change these rules or stop the Lottery. Changes don't affect tickets already bought for a draw, unless the law requires it.
- If we have to cancel a draw, all tickets for it are refunded to the buyers' balances.
- If something outside our control (for example a technical failure) affects a draw, we may delay it and run it as soon as we can.
9. Play responsibly
The Lottery is meant to be a bit of fun on top of your earnings, not a way to make money. Most tickets don't win. Only spend what you can afford to lose, don't chase losses, and take a break if it stops being fun. If gambling is causing you problems, contact a local support service for help.
